Use this step-by-step repair guide to help you replace the LIP1522 battery in your Sony PS4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller.

Necessary Replacement Parts:

• LIP1522 Battery Pack for Sony PS4 DualShock 4 Controller

Necessary Replacement Tools:

• Plastic Opening Tools
• Precision #00 Phillips Screwdriver

Note: Above tools are included for FREE when this replacement battery is purchased from mpfproducts.com.

Step 1

• Using the #00 screwdriver, remove the 4 screws from the back panel.
• Take care to not forcefully loosen the screws as this could cause permanent damage of the threads.

  

Step 2

• Begin with the left should of the controller, pinch the left shoulder to create an opening.  Then insert the plastic opening tool in the opening. 
• Next, carefully slide it up towards the joystick.
• Continue carefully prying around the left side of the case until you are able to open. 
• Then repeat steps for the right shoulder.

  

Step 3

Wedge a plastic opening tool into the case-splittings and carefully pull down to crack open the casing near the following buttons:

• Share
• Options

Split apart the plastic covers of the controller, use caution as they will still be attached by a circuit board ribbon.

Caution

During this step of the process often 3 small pieces are released from the controller framework. Be sure you are working in an environment that will allow for them to be found if released/fall.  The pieces are (pictured in 3rd image below):

• 2 Trigger Springs
• 1 Grey reset button extension

Step 4

• Detach the motherboard ribbon connecting the two sides of the controller by using your fingers. Place the top half to the side while working with the bottom and battery.
  

  

Step 5

• Using tweezers or your fingers, carefully remove the battery plug by gently rocking the plug side to side to loosen. 
• Once the connector is able to be removed from the motherboard, the battery can be lifted out of the controller.

(pictured below) and follow these steps in reverse to reassemble your tablet.
